Economics | Communism, Capitalism & Socialism | A Sorting Activity

In this activity your students will complete a Communism, Socialism, & Capitalism Card Sorting Activity either as a preview or review to gauge student knowledge and understanding of these economic systems before or after teaching. It is a great activity to have students complete in groups so you can listen to their discussions about where to place each card- a few cards could justifiably have more than 1 correct placement! Fun Activity!

Specifically, your students will:

1)Examine and study the provided Student Cheat Sheet OR to make a more challenging activity skip the Cheat Sheet!

2)Place students into pairs or small groups of 3. (Or students could work individually)

3)Give each group/or student a “sorting chart”, glue, scissors and a set of word cards to cut out.

4) Students will discuss the placement of each “card” on their chart while the teacher can walk around the room and gauge understanding from student conversations!
