In this activity bundle you will get 4 different activities that allow your students to learn about 5 Captains of Industry/Robber Barons of the Gilded Age. Use all 4 activities or mix and match!
Captains of Industry/Robber Barons Featured: Andrew Carnegie, JP Morgan, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller
Activities Included:
Activity # 1- Reading Comprehension & Student Notes- Students can read the provided reading about the 5 featured businessmen and complete the corresponding notes handout.
Activity # 2- Who did it? Students will color code a set of statements and quotes to identify which Captain/ Robber Baron did it. (they can use the provided reading for additional help)
Activity # 3- Card Sorting Partners Activity- Students will work in pairs to cut out statements and quotes and match them to the correct Captain/Robber Baron- very hands-on! Great Assessment Activity as well! (they can use the provided reading for additional help)
Activity # 4- Exit Card/Assessment Poem Activity- students will use the directions provided to create a Diamante Poem for the Captain/Robber Baron of their choice (or yours). Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of how their assigned person was both a Captain of Industry (Philanthropist) and a Robber Baron.
**All handouts, Student Readings and materials are provided- You provide the colors, scissors and Glue! Appropriate for grades 8-12.
