U.S. Government | 3 Branches | Constitution | Hands- on Activity | Game
In this activity, students will work in small groups to explore the roles & responsibilities of the 3 Branches of the U.S. Government through a fast-paced, interactive, hands-on game! Appropriate for grades 8-12.
Specifically:
1) Students will work in small teams to study (and memorize) a detailed, full- color infographic (provided) on the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches of Government for @ 10 minutes.
2) Students will then rely on memory and teamwork to reconstruct the information using the Venn diagram and content cards provided. Groups race to correctly place each card into the appropriate branch, encouraging discussion, recall, and critical thinking.
As students collaborate, the teacher circulates to observe conversations and assess understanding. This engaging activity works well as either an introduction to the 3 Branches of Government or a high-energy review lesson.
